National Registration Scheduled for Implementation in July 2010

Australia's healthcare workforce is undergoing a radical change with the introduction of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme scheduled for implementation in July 2010.

The implications of the agreement mean that the following healthcare professionals will work within a national registration and accreditation system:

  • Medical Practitioner
  • Nurses and Midwives
  • Pharmacists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Psychologists
  • Osteopaths
  • Chiropractors
  • Optometrists
  • Dentists (including dental hygienists, dental prosthetists, and dental therapists)

This new single system of national registration and accreditation is aimed at promoting a more flexible, responsive and sustainable health workforce for the Australian community.
