CozWine celebrates its 10 year anniversary in the Barossa Valley

CW_AboutusIn 1838 wine cuttings were brought from the Cape of Good Hope and planted just a few miles down the road in the McLaren Vale district. Today, South Australia accounts for just under half Australia's total wine grape production. Outside Europe, Australia is now the world's largest exporter of wine.

The Barossa Valley has enjoyed particular success, becoming increasingly renowned in Australia and around the world.  A contributing factor in our success is the hard work of many talented individuals.

CozWine has recruited talented wine professionals in Australia and worldwide to work in the Barossa region since 1998, celebrating 10 years of operation this year. Steve Oliver, National Manager CozWine, reflects on this period and the future challenges ahead for CozWine.

"We opened our doors 10 years ago in the Barossa Valley and have gone from strength to strength around Australia's wine growing regions. We have had fantastic experiences during our time in the Barossa.  From utilising trades people as cellarhands (in a time when there were plenty available!), to placing a senior winemaker in Indonesia. Steve says, "there is a real sense of belonging to this community, which has meant that we have been able to build not just working relationships with our clients and employees but real friendships. Early on, we had the opportunity to build strong ties with the South Australian Riverland because many wineries struggled to get quality staff and these ties still remain today."

"Some of the challenges that we have had to face like extreme weather conditions, oversupply of wine grapes, and shortage of people to work has meant that we have had to shift our approach in order to meet the demands of our customers," says Steve.  However, CozWine have been successful in maintaining the quality of their recruitment services during this time.

CozWine's services have developed as a result of continuous improvement and best practice; listening to clients and monitoring industry trends. Over the last few years, CozWine has built an extensive national database of wine industry professionals.

Steve believes the key to continuing success and evolvement is for CozWine to have a dynamic approach, proactive and reactive as needed by shifts in the industry.

CozWine are also focussed on partnering with organisations who are employers of choice. Steve says, "what is incredibly important to us is to provide fantastic employment opportunities for people to work in an environment where they feel safe and happy."

The Barossa has a strong history, tradition and culture. It is also very progressive, which provides opportunity for personal growth and development. "Our ability to provide a high quality service will stand the test of time. Our first 10 years have been exciting and challenging. We look forward to many more happy and successful years in the Barossa Valley," says Steve.
