Approved 457 Visa Sponsor.

Specialist recruiter, Bayside Personnel Australia Pty Ltd, has been awarded an On-hire Labour Agreement by the Federal Government today.  As one of only a few Australian recruiters with access to this agreement, Bayside Personnel can now secure experienced overseas engineers, nurses, accountants and other professionals in critical demand.

Chief Executive Officer, Mathew Westcott, says "As of today, we can provide crucial skills to our customers through international recruitment.  This will enable our clients to relieve immediate staffing shortages, as well as initiate and retain various projects in Australia."

The skills shortage in Australia requires both short and long term solutions.  While the On-hire Labour Agreement meets short term needs, it also has stringent provisions in place for the development of Australian employees to meet future demands.  "It is highly beneficial to bring experienced professionals to Australia in an on-hire arrangement," Westcott explains, "because one on-hired professional can work with different companies on varying projects and have the opportunity to mentor many Australians."

Westcott believes that overseas skilled engineers for example, will also play a significant role in mentoring and training the next generation of engineers in world best practice.  Bayside Personnel's training and development program also aims to assist in reducing the engineering skill gap.

Bayside Personnel is part of the Bayside Group.  The On-hire Labour Agreement also includes the Group's nursing agency, Austra Health.  Specialist professionals are primarily recruited from Australia, and from overseas only where it is necessary to relieve skill shortages.  "Australian engineers, nurses and accountants have a lot of talent and expertise.  Unfortunately, we don't have enough to meet client demand," says Westcott.  Bayside Personnel alone currently has 50 engineers ready to come to Australia to assist key organisations to meet project deadlines.

The skills shortage is a multi-faceted issue that has become increasingly prevalent in Australia, although the nursing shortage has been a challenge for more than a decade.  As an approved business sponsor prior to legislative changes, Bayside Personnel is experienced in working with government and industry bodies to ensure that employees are supported, and treated reasonably and fairly.

Although recruiters approved for business sponsors prior to legislative changes have been able to continue with existing sponsorships, this agreement is necessary to sponsor new candidates.

"We are excited to assist our clients in providing experienced professionals from Australia and abroad.  It is important to us that we build strong relationships with Australian employers, government bodies and industry associations to reduce skill shortages in Australia.  The 457 Visa is one of many ways that we can work to achieve this goal" Westcott says.
